Enterprise Zone Tax Credit

 

Your donation of any size to Joshua Station or the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Clinic (JAMLAC) is eligible for the Enterprise Zone Tax Credit! Your gift entitles you to a credit of 25% of the total cash donation (or 12.5% of the in-kind donation value) on your CO state income tax return, in addition to your full regular federal and state charitable deductions. 

 

The calculations below illustrate how the DEZ Tax Credit will apply to you:

DEZ tax credit             $250                $750           $1,250              $2,500               $5,000

 

Please note that in order to process your Enterprise Zone credit for any donation of $250 or more, we will contact you to get your taxpayer I.D. number. Your taxpayer ID is your Social Security Number, your Colorado Account Number (see below), or business FEIN. Please contact Sibel or call 303-839-5198 ext. 4 to register your tax ID number with us or to learn more.  

 

According to our local DEZ advisor, "a taxpayer can now receive their Colorado Account Number (CAN) immediately online or can go online and request that it be mailed to them. To get a CAN immediately online, a taxpayer can visit www.colorado.gov/revenueonline and login to their tax account. Please note that the taxpayer may need to verify some information about themselves for security purposes such as the amount of their last tax filing. A taxpayer can also request that their CAN be mailed to them by making a letter request online from the same site. This is expected to take about a week.
